Lesson 6 Team Blog Reflection

  • Teamwork of which I am proud.
    • It was great to be able to see everyone's units as I was working on my own
    • This group is really flexible about meetings and they were a big help in development of my NLE
    • Our group does an excellent job of sharing information and project ideas with each other. We are always ready and willing to help our team members when they need the help.
    • The teamwork I am proud of is how we come together regardless of meeting - we helped each other with examples of unit plans to ensure all were on the same page.
  • Teamwork which I found exceptionally challenging.
    • Not much for this lesson, most of the work was independent
    • No challenge this week, everything running smoothly
    • We did not have much to do in regards to teamwork, so nothing was exceptionally challenging.
    • The most challenging I am facing with this lesson is posting a video link on my unit home page. Unfortunately I still have found a way so I may have to post the link after posting the URL tonight.

  • Reflections on technology and instructional strategies that you and your team learned from this lesson.
    • Screencast- O - Matic saved the day on my unit.
    • Have finally developed a page that I have been meaning to get to for so long, satisfying.
    • I thought I had a pretty good grasp on the instructional strategies that are incorporated into a NLE unit. It wasn't until I actually had to create one, that I realized how important they are in learning.
    • I'm very happy to be at the end of the semester, I have to say though that I enjoy working on the unit plan - for some reason it makes sense to me and is easy to develop. Unless of course I have it all wrong - lol!
  • Anything your team would like to share
    • Excited for the last few weeks of the semester to be here.
    • Looking forward to seeing all the innovations in technology when reviewing everyone's NLE.
    • I am also looking forward to seeing everyone else's NLE units. I know I will learn something new by reviewing them.

Lesson 5 Team Blog Reflections

  • Team work of which I am proud.
    • Being able to compile a presentation with fluidity and quick trouble shooting.
    • Pulling together the presentation with last minute technical challenges with elluminate.
    • Our group did an awesome job getting our sections for the presentation completed. Even with our technical difficulties, we managed to stay calm and were able to take care of our minor problems. Our presentation went well and had a nice flow to it.
  • Team work which I found exceptionally challenging.
    • Presenting a topic that was already exceptionally presented.
    • I felt pretty overwhelmed with our paper, chat moderation and presentation all falling at or around the same time.
    • The presentation itself was challenging because it was hard to get the team together at times. We also had some minor technical issues before the presentation. We lost some images and had a hard time working with Elluminate. We managed to pull together an awesome presentation.
  • Reflections on technology and instructional strategies that you and your team learned from this lesson.
    • Technology continues to astound me!
    • I finally learned how to use Google Wave after months of procrastination.
    • I was happy to actually have someone to use Google Wave with. I had the invitation for a while, but never really played around with it. It wasn't until I had to teach how to use Google Wave that I really played around with it.
  • Anything your team would like to share
    • We all worked hard on this week but I think one member really went above and beyond to keep us on track, Thanks Marta!
    • I second the observation of the dedication and work that Marta put in this lesson!
    • We have a hard working team who is dedicated to doing there share of the work. The best team I've had so far!

Team Work which I am proud of:
I am most impressed with my new group members and how efficiently and effectively they work together; and how they have included me in the assignments. My group members have been especially understanding and helpful this week! Thank you!
Challenges:
Technology is awesome...BUT can be so confusing with all the new tools we are expected to use. Still having a problem with tagging but I'm sure with the help of my group I'll be an expert by the end of the course.
Technology and strategies:
Media Literacy is a new genere of technology that I hadn't considered as an instructional tool. I've taught language arts in prior years and within that course have used propaganda as an instructional strategies but after learning about media literacy I realize the increased importance using media literacy inthe classroom. There are so many more instances where media literacy can be a catalysts in the classroom.

Lesson 4 Team Blog Reflections

  • Team work of which I am proud.
    • Having such a flexible and dedicated group has made this semester a great one!
    • The flexibility of the group has made it very easy to organize team assignments. Each one of us are responsible for finishing up each one of our assignments.
    • Checking in at our weekly meetings has helped to keep me focused and on task
  • Team work which I found exceptionally challenging.
    • Still having a problem with using chat on etherpad, I hate it when technology heeds me from communicating effectively.
    • Technology seems to be on everyone's bad side during this lesson. From communication to uploading images. It has been a challenge, but in the end it looks like it came out ok. I thought the Lesson 4 content development was a little challenging for me because I was a little confused with the contents of the assignment.
    • It feels like all of the assignments landed at the same time. We transitioned from the paper to or unit moderation to the presentation.
  • Reflections on technology and instructional strategies that you and your team learned from this lesson.
    • It was interesting to look at the discussions from the point of a moderator.
    • Moderating was a bit of a challenge for me because I am usually one who sits in a corner or at the back of the room and listen (in a traditional classroom setting). Moderating gave me a chance to ask the questions and guide the discussion, something I usually don't do.
    • ditto on the moderation
  • Anything your team would like to share
    • It has been great working with this group moderating this lessons discussion.
    • I really like working with this team because we get down to business during our team meetings. They are not too long and everything gets organized.
    • Lots of work but just trying to chip away

Lesson 3 Team Reflection

Team work of which I am proud.
This paper was a monumental task this lesson. I think that we pulled together and worked through it. We even gained a new team member as the process was ongoing.

The team writing assignment went very well. We did a great job in splitting up the tasks. We communicated on a regular basis to make sure we were all on the same page.

The group paper seems to have pieced together nicely and I enjoy working as a group.

Team work which I found exceptionally challenging.

Being at a conference made everything challenging for me this week but losing my computer for a couple of days multiplied the problem. I think I was the challenge for my team at times during this lesson.

When working with a team, it can be difficult to schedule meetings or work collaboratively because each one of us have a busy schedule and have other life activities/events we each have to focus on other than school. My challenge was trying to finish the writing assignment on time while taking care of my two sick boys. One of our meeting had to be cut very short because I had to take care of my son.

For me it was just getting started, the task of writing a paper with a group seemed more difficult than it really was.

Reflections on technology and instructional strategies that you and your team learned from this lesson
The work of wading through a district technology plan showed me the great complexity that is involved in the creation of a technology plan.

I realized how much work goes into the setup of an organization's network structure. It requires a lot of time and thought into the development and planning of a school network.

The convenience and easy of communication for a group was a testament to why technology improves educational collaboration. Even across distances, technical trouble shooting, and busy lives we were able to pull together a great team effort. This assignment proved that an organization's network structure multiplies what an individual must do to maintain a network.

Anything your team would like to share
I'm am happy to have another member in our group. Four heads are better than three :)

I second this and am have confidence in our abilities to collaboratively moderate the following lesson.

Lesson 2 Reflection

  • Team work of which I am proud.
    • We have a good plan of action for the following weeks.
    • Preparing for our turn monitoring the lesson.
    • We have done a good job of getting our lesson 3 group assignment going. We broke down the assignment to make it easier for all of us.
  • Team work which I found exceptionally challenging.
    • Making sure we all were on the same page about assignments.
    • I have to second the above statement.
    • Being on the same page about assignments is difficult because we all have busy lives. It is hard to organize a team writing assignment when we are all miles apart too :)
  • Reflections on technology and instructional strategies that you and your team learned from this lesson.
    • Marta started us on the new to me website http://www.etherpad.com/. I am excited to see how it works out as a communication tool.
    • It appears that I need to enter the mobile device world with a smart phone. I also found out about a ton of Web 2.0 apps
    • There are many technology tools to choose from when it comes to social networking and collaborative work. As learners, we need to find the Web 2.0 tool that fits our learning styles.

  • Anything your team would like to share.
    • One more lesson down and looking forward to the following weeks.
    • Chipping away and learning a ton.
    • We are doing an awesome job sharing new information with each other.

Lesson 1 entry

  • Team work of which I am proud:
  • Jess: The team governance seems to be the best collaboration but am excited to see how the blogspot goes.
  • Nic: We have started the process of examining the tasks and projects that will serve as the purpose of the group. Our first meeting was a success. I look forward to working with everyone going forward.
  • Marta: I think we started our first assignment well, I can already tell we are going to work very well together.
  • Team work which I found exceptionally challenging:
  • Jess: Does choosing a team count? A semester to work with someone could make or break a class. I was excited to find Marta and Nic in a group needing a member.  I also have to agree with Nic, the igoogle account and PLE page has quite a few tasks to set up but Marta has been encouraging.
  • Nic: Enrolling myself in the tasks of the group. I personally have struggled to begin the work of the class in the first couple of weeks.
  • Marta: I agree with Jessica. Choosing a team is always difficult for me because you don't know how the different personalities will mix or if you will have the same work ethic. I am happy I have joined a hard working team and look forward to working with them during this semester.
  • Reflections on technology and instructional strategies that you and your team learned from this lesson:
  • Jess: The discussions about Connectivism were especially helpful and in depth.
  • Nic: I agree with Jess. The expansion of the concept of Connectivism will aid the development of learning networks. Hopefully, this theoretical foundation will lead to the development of practical applications that have been well conceived and reflect peer-reviewed knowledge.
  • Marta: I agree with my team. the discussions on Vista were in depth and I have gotten a better idea of how to apply this theory with my students.
  • Sharing points:
  • Jess: I look forward to a successful semester with this group!
  • Nic: I share Jess's excitement and interest in the future work that we will accomplish together.
  • Marta: I agree with my team! I know I will learn a lot from them :)
